Wilma Shriner of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Tuesday, January 26, 2010, in the Blackwell Regional Hospital at the age of 76 years.
Wilma Shriner was born on April 30, 1933, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to William and Theresa (Etzel) Leseman. She grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public Schools graduating in 1951. She then furthered her education by attending Northern Oklahoma Junior College in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, graduating in 1955 with an associate's degree in music and business. Following graduation she began working for Continental Oil Company in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She later married Ray D. Shriner of Braman, Oklahoma, and they settled in Blackwell. She continued working as an administrative assistant in the legal department for Continental Oil Company which later became Conoco. She retired after thirty three years of service. Her husband preceded her in death in 1998 and she continued to make Blackwell her home. She was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Blackwell. She enjoyed bowling, dancing and singing.
She is survived by a brother-in-law, Glenn Swan of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two sister-in-laws, Dorothy Bailey of Tonkawa, Oklahoma, and Kathryn Swan of Cherokee, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
A prayer service is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Sunday, January 31st in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 1st in the St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Michael Wheelahan of Medford, Oklahoma, officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Judy Cox, Glenn W. Swan, Mark Swan, Patrick Swan and Jerry Frieouf.
A memorial has been established in her honor with the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
