Wilma Jean Elam of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died early Thursday morning, April 29, 2010, in the Blackwell Regional Hospital at the age of 82 years.
Wilma Jean Elam was born on December 17, 1927, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Walter Raymond and Pluma Gertrude (Heffron) Taylor. She grew up in rural Braman attending Battle Axe Rural School and Braman High School. She married Jack Hudson in 1945 at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri, and in 1956 moved to Blackwell where she served her family as a homemaker and worked at various jobs. In 1971 she married Bill Brennan in Blackwell and they made Blackwell their home. Following Bill's death she later married Lee Elam in 1992. She was an active member of the First Assembly of God Church in Blackwell. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, cooking and walking.
She is survived by her son, Larry Hudson and wife Brenda of Blackwell, Oklahoma; her daughter, Loretta Leavitt and husband Gary of Ponca City, Oklahoma; a brother, Allen Taylor and wife Beverly of Blackwell, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Melanie Rowe and husband Corey of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Shawna Henrichs and husband Aaron of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Lindsay Siler and husband Robert of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Jonathan Leavitt of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Jeremy Leavitt of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Jason Leavitt of Edmond, Oklahoma; and seven great grandchildren, Blade Rowe, Royce Rowe, Madison Rowe, Kylee Henrichs, Dawson Henrichs, Joseph Leavitt and Layton Leavitt.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ralph and Orlin Taylor; and a great grandson, Hudson Henrichs.
Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 3rd in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Blackwell with the Rev. Robert Foos of Nardin United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Braman Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Jonathan Leavitt, Jeremy Leavitt, Jason Leavitt, Corey Rowe, Aaron Henrichs and Robert Siler. Serving as honorary casketbearers will be Blade Rowe, Royce Rowe, Madison Rowe, Kylee Henrichs, Dawson Henrichs, Joseph Leavitt and Layton Leavitt.
