William Kenneth Roundtree Sr. of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Friday morning, June 11, 2010, in the Ponca City Nursing Home at the age of 79 years.
William Kenneth Roundtree Sr. was born on October 12, 1930, in Stroud, Oklahoma, to William Finas and Nannie Elander (Reed) Roundtree. He grew up in Stroud attending Rocky Point School and later moved to Cromwell with his family to make their home. In 1951 he entered the United States Army serving in the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge in 1953 he returned to Cromwell. On July 23, 1955, he married Mary Rose Norton in Cromwell and they made their home in Blackwell. He began working for Zooks Wholesale and B & S Oilfield Construction. He later began working for Smith International in Tonkawa before transferring to Ponca City, Oklahoma, where he worked until his retirement in 1996. On December 19, 2007, his wife preceded him in death and he continued to make Blackwell his home. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by a daughter, Susan Gideon and husband Mike of Ponca City, Oklahoma; three sons, Kenny Roundtree and wife LaDonna of Cleo Springs, Oklahoma, Tommy Roundtree of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Nolan Roundtree and wife Becca of Tonkawa, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Dollie Harris of Lamas, Texas; and one brother, Troy Roundtree of Cromwell, Oklahoma.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and five sisters.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 16th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Jeremy Sampson of Carter Hospice in Stillwater, Oklahoma, officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army Honor Guard.
Casketbearers will be Kenny Roundtree, Tommy Roundtree, Nolan Roundtree, Sean Ingram, Josh Ingram and Cory Ingram. Honorary casketbearers will be Rick Mathis, Mark Johnson, David Ingram, Pat Cornett, Rick Barrows and J. J. McMahon.
