Willa Mae Frisch Overman went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday afternoon, July 25, 2008, at the age of 83 years.
Willa Mae Frisch Overman was born on January 13, 1925, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of William Henry and Elsie May (Clavin) Frisch. She attended rural school, Weston District # 46, and graduated from Blackwell High School in 1943. After her education she began working for Southwestern Bell. She married Ellis Gordon Overman on June 2, 1946, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, and they made their home on a farm Northwest of Ponca City, Oklahoma. She taught Junior High Sunday School for several years and was the Church organist for forty-six years at the Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church. She worked for Northcutt Pharmacy and later for Family Discount Pharmacy before retiring in 2007. She was a sixty year member of Weston Grange. She spent many hours volunteering as "Grandma" at the Garfield Elementary School Library. She enjoyed being around the children and staff. She was recognized with a Ponca City Public School volunteer award. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Overman on January 18, 1999; her parents; and one brother, Kenneth W. Frisch.
She is survived by her children, Sharon (Overman) Saulmon of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Harlan Overman and wife Karen (Irwin) of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Marcina Overman of Ponca City, Oklahoma; her grandchildren, John Saulmon of Missouri, Scott Overman of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Michelle (Overman) Tripp and husband Jay of Braman, Oklahoma, and Bryan Overman and wife Teri of Ponca City, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, Nathan Saulmon of Newport New, Virginia, and MacKinzie and Nolan Overman of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Colton Tripp of Braman, Oklahoma, and her step great grandchildren, Caulin and Colter Orcutt and Karsyn Turk of Ponca City, Oklahoma; one sister, Velma Carmichael of Stillwater, Oklahoma, one brother, Owen Frisch of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one sister in law and brother in law, Marguita Overman Spengler, and Gerald Spengler of Winfield, Kansas; and a host of family and friends.
Services are set for Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at 10:00 am, at the Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church, with Rev. Tara Foos officiating; burial will follow at the Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church.
A memorial has been established at the Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church in memory of Willa Mae Overman c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
