Obituary

Willa Mae Jeffries of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Friday afternoon, August 27, 2010, in the Stillwater Medical Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma, at the age of 86 years.

Willa Mae Jeffries was born on May 3, 1924, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Charley and Izata Ruth (Mitchell) Bowersock. She was a graduate of Blackwell High School class of 1943. She married Jack Jeffries on February 16, 1947, in Blackwell, Oklahoma. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Friendship Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Green Thumb Garden Club and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She had been a bowler, winning numerous trophies, and was a member of Who's Who list of Blackwell bowling. She participated on the team that won the Oklahoma State Bowling Tournament. She made many trips to other state and national bowling tournaments and belonged to the National and State 600 and 200 Clubs. She also held membership in the Pioneer China Decorators Club in Ponca City, Oklahoma.

She is survived by her daughter Rebecca (Becky) Jeffries and her companion Joe Ball of Blackwell, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Gay Fleming of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Jeff McBride and companion Dolores of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Jackie Smith of Blackwell, Oklahoma; five great-grandchildren, AshLee and Kimberlee Fleming, Braden McBride, and Jimmy and Grace Arbuckle; two sisters, Meda Richards of Lyons, Kansas, and Betty Fessenden and husband Ken of Irving, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Patsy Shaw of Yuma, Arizona and Melissa Bowersock of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was blessed with an extended family including Christy and Brett Mudgett and their children, Zeke Boyer and children, and Joe and Stacie Ball and their children as well as, close friend, Arlene Roberts, Alice Spoon, Marion Darwin and Winnie Hutton, plus many more.

Willa Mae was preceded in death by her husband Jack Jeffries, her parents, two brothers, Dan and Lee; and one sister, Wilma.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 31st at the First United Methodist Church of Blackwell, with Rev. Kristen Brown of the First United Methodist Church and Rev. Larry Adkisson of Collinsville, Oklahoma, officiating. Burial will follow at the Blackwell Cemetery.
