Obituary

Wilbur Emmett Winterhalter of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at the AMG Specialty Hospital, Edmond, Oklahoma, at the age of 72 years.

Wilbur Emmett Winterhalter was born on May 14, 1940, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He was the son of Omar Harrison and Hazel Marie (Going) Winterhalter. He grew up on a farm southeast of Stillwater. He attended Oak Grove Public Schools through eighth grade and attended Perkins High School. Following his education he entered the United States Navy for four years. While serving in the navy he married Amelia Magante in the Philippines on September 9, 1960. He then enlisteded into the United States Army for eight years serving during Vietnam. Following his discharge they returned to Oklahoma where he worked at various jobs. In 1970, he moved to Blackwell, where they made their home. He began working at Weaver Well Service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and tinkering with things.

He is survived by two daughters, Linda M. Grace of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Susan M. Freeman of Blackwell, Oklahoma; two sons, William E. Winterhalter of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Brent McConnell of Perry, Oklahoma; seventeen grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Wilbur Winterhalter Jr., and Wayne Winterhalter; six grandchildren; and five brothers, Dwight, Clarence, Virgil, Lyle, and Jerry.

Services are scheduled for Monday, April 22, 2013, at 2:00 pm at the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Pam Cottrill officiating.
