Obituary

Alden Wayne Sprueill of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Wednesday evening, October 13, 2010, at the Ponca City Medical Center in Ponca City, Oklahoma, having reached the age of 69 years.

Alden Wayne Sprueill was born on September 3, 1941, in Stroud, Oklahoma, to James Edward Clella M. (Logue) Sprueill. He moved with his family from Stroud to Blackwell as a young man. Later on, he moved across the street from a pretty young woman named Olive Marie Scott. They were married December 17th, 1960, in Belle Plain, Kansas. They had a daughter and enjoyed three grandchildren. He was a hard worker. Wayne worked for the Highway Dept., Acme Foundry, Blackwell Zinc Company and retiring, after 28 years, from ConAgra in Blackwell. Wayne and Olive continued to own and operate Ritz Cleaners for 23 years. He loved to work in the garden, watch birds, and ride around with his wife. He could talk to anyone he met. He never met a stranger. He was very opinionated. He loved his family and was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and would have been a wonderful great-grandfather. He always reminded his family he loved them and never failed to show it. He always told his grandkids repeatedly all the stories he knew so that they would not forget them. He was a seasoned driving instructor. He could always make his family laugh. He was very proud of his grandchildren and their accomplishments and was always there for them and helped his grand-daughter cheat in dominoes. He had a large supply of jokes and sayings he liked to repeat- and did so often

He is survived by his wife, Olive, of the home; one daughter, Rebecca Johns and her husband M. Clay of Blackwell, Oklahoma; 3 grandchildren, Adam Johns and his wife Michelle of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Mathew Johns of Provo, Utah, and Rachel Johns of Blackwell, Oklahoma; one brother, L. Don Sprueill of Ponca City, Oklahoma; two sisters, Joyce Vineyard of Davis, Oklahoma, and Elaine Sprueill of Camp Verde, Arizona.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bill James Sprueill; and one grandson Michael Johns.

Memorial Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 16th in the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints in Blackwell with President Jerry Dickison officiating.
