Wanda Nell Maruska of Nardin, Oklahoma, died Sunday evening, August 1, 2010, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Blackwell, Oklahoma, at the age of 71 years.
Wanda Nell Maruska was born on June 18, 1939, in Seymour, Texas, to John Allen and Gladys Pauline (Dipprey) Campbell. She grew up in Texas before moving to Oklahoma in 1951 where she attended Braman Public Schools. She married Raymond Miller on January 24, 1956, in Blackwell and she served her family as a homemaker. She later married Stanley Maruska on August 31, 1974, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, and they settled in Nardin. She was a member of the Nardin United Methodist Church and the Z.C.B.J. Lodge Trocnov and served as the organization's treasurer for many years. She enjoyed working in the Kolache Kitchen at the Sumner County Fair in Caldwell, Kansas, each year.
She is survived by her husband, Stanley Maruska of Nardin, Oklahoma; a daughter, Judy Paige and husband Randy of Nardin, Oklahoma; a son, Allen Miller and wife Rhonda of Nardin, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Matt Miller of Braman, Oklahoma, Alissa Miller of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Mark Miller of Nardin, Oklahoma, Jonathan Paige of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Ryker Paige of Nardin, Oklahoma; and friend and caregiver, Teresa Stanley of Blackwell, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 6th in the Nardin United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Jones of the Nardin United Methodist Church and Rev. Robert Foos of First United Methodist Church in Edmond, Oklahoma, officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Nardin, Oklahoma.
Casketbearers will be Scott Pennington, Joe Polasek, Les Parks, Rusty Parks, Ryan Parks and Justin Parks. Honorary casketbearers will be her grandchildren.
A memorial has been established in her honor with the Nardin United Methodist Church in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
