Vita Karen Hix of Ponca City, Oklahoma, died Friday, January 6, 2012, at the Blackwell Regional Hospital in Blackwell, Oklahoma, at the age of 63 years.
Vita was born on Aug. 12, 1948, to Marvin and Cythia Elizabeth Hix in Portland, Oregon. She graduated from Dewey High School in Oklahoma in 1966. She moved to Ponca City in 1976 and from 1978 to 2011 was an employee of the Ponca City Police Department, where she retired as records supervisor. She was a member of Second Baptist Church, where she enjoyed playing the piano. She also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Vita is survived by a daughter, Teresa Rowell and husband Jimmy of Ponca City; a son Rodney Brewer and wife Sheila of Blackwell; six grandsons: Eric Garza, Andrew Garza, Robert V. Brewer, Thomas Rowell, Shane Brewer and Donovan Brewer; two granddaughters: Jordan Nissan and Molly Rowell; and several great-grandchildren; her father, Marvin Hix of Mission, Texas; sister, Lanelle Brooks; and three brothers: Leland Hix, Dale Hix and Eldon Hix.
Vita was preceded in death by her mother, Cythia Elizabeth Hix; and a son, Robert Brewer.
Memorial services will be held at Second Baptist Church, 1112 West Grand, on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Ken Newport officiating.
A memorial has been established at the Hartland Baptist Bible College in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in her memory.
