Virginia Gallardo Gonzalez of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Sunday, February 13, 2011, at her residence in Blackwell at the age of 72 years
Virginia Gallardo Gonzalez was born on February 1, 1939, in San Antonio, Texas. She was the daughter of Benito Renteria and Francisco Torrez. She grew up in California attending schools in California. Following her education she moved to Norwalk, California, where she worked as a welder and inspector for a tank company. In 1978 she returned to the home to care for her family. She was a member of the Tree of Life in Whittier, California, where she served as a volunteer helping the needy. She loved to sing and to decorate the church. She also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. In 2006 she moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma, to be near her daughter Mary.
She is survived by ten daughters, Sylvia Martinez of San Diego, California, Norma Martinez of San Diego, California, Maria Burgoine of Los Angeles, California, Refugio Gonzales, of Ensenada, Baja, California, Gloria Gonzales of Los Angeles, California, Martina Gonzales of Hawthorne, California, Virginia Rojas of Riverside, California, Bianca Sanchez of Santa Ana, California, Mary Montiel of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Cynthia Gonzales of San Luis Obispo, California; three sons, Jorge Gonzales of Los Angeles, California, Edgar Gonzales of Ensenada, Baja, California, and Jose Gonzales of San Luis Obispo, California; forty two grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and one brother, Salvador Renteria of California.
She was preceded in death parents and three brothers.
Memorial services are set for Saturday, February 19, 2011, at The Tree of Life Church in Whittier, California.
