Obituary
Victor Lloyd Miller of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Sunday, January 9, 2011, at his residence in Blackwell at the age of 81 years.
Victor Lloyd Miller was born on June 21, 1929, in rural Billings, Oklahoma, to Elmer Eugene and Maimie (Bolt) Miller. He grew up on the family farm in the rural Billings area attending rural Billings schools. After he completed his education he helped out on the farm and took care of his mother. On April 24, 1958, he married Virginia Lee Dougherty in Newkirk, Oklahoma, and they made their home on his father's farm in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, where he helped on the farm and worked at the Tonkawa Foundry. They moved to Blackwell in 1975 and he retired from the foundry in 1984. On September 9, 1996, his wife preceded him in death and he continued to make Blackwell his home. He enjoyed gardening, driving his grandchildren to school, and playing with his dogs.
He is survived by three sons, Delbert Miller of Blackwell, Oklahoma, William Miller of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Max Miller and wife Wilma of Blackwell, Oklahoma; three daughters, Melvina Nelsen and husband David of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Maxine Miller of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Vickie Cox and husband Earl of Blackwell, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Kevin Nelsen, Jamie, Travis, and Cody Miller, Tyrel, Chance, Valerie, and DeAnna Cox; and two great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Barnard and McKenzie Cox.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Maimie Miller; father and step-mother, Elmer and Mary Miller; two infant daughters; two brothers, Lester Miller and Van Miller; and a grandson, Scott Miller.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 12th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin Bookout of the First Free Will Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Casketbearers are the grandchildren of Victor Miller, Frank Barrows, and Jim Beals.
A memorial has been established in his honor with the Ponca City Humane Society in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
