Obituary

Twila Vonceil Currie of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Wednesday morning, November 28, 2012, in the Blackwell Regional Hospital at the age of 93 years.

Twila Vonceil "Twink" Currie was born on February 1, 1919, in Blackwell to Fred B. and Juanita May (Brown) Hubbard. She grew up in Kay County attending Braman Public Schools before moving to Oklahoma City with her family graduating from high school in 1937. She continued her education by attending beauty college and working as a beautician in Oklahoma City. She married William "Bill" Burdell Currie on June 8, 1940, in Oklahoma City and they settled on a farm west of Braman where she served her family as a homemaker. In 1962 they moved to Blackwell to make their home. Her husband preceded her in death on January 6, 2003, and she continued to make Blackwell her home. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed bowling and participated in the leagues in Blackwell. She also enjoyed playing bingo, cards, visiting casinos and loved to drink coffee and visit with her friends.

She is survived by a daughter, Karen Lindsey of the home; a son, Les Currie of Stillwater, Oklahoma; a niece, Linda Goble of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Neta May Wall; and a grandson, Greg Barnett.

Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 1st in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Blackwell with Lanny Jobe of the Blackwell Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Danny Amos, George Swartz, Jose Arteaga and Richard North. Honorary casketbearers will be coffee drinking friends at the doughnut shop and the Plainsman.

A memorial has been established in her honor with the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for stroke research in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74361.
