Theadore (Ted) Morris Cole of Norman, Oklahoma passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, December 5, 2010, in his home at the age of 69 years.
Ted Cole was born the 8th of 12 children, on September 6, 1941, in Park Hill, Oklahoma, to David Robert and Martha Honor (Day) Cole. He grew up in Blackwell graduating from Blackwell High School in 1959. He served as a Second Lt. in the Oklahoma National Guard. He married his high school sweetheart, Janice Walcher, in Blackwell on October 20, 1962, and to this union was born three children, Lisa, Ted II and Tracey.
Ted and Janice have made their home in Norman, Oklahoma since 1969, where Ted worked most of his life as a salesman for Data Documents, Origami, and Quantum Forms. He was currently the Assistant Manager at Auto Zone in Moore, Oklahoma.
Ted enjoyed coaching his two daughters' softball teams for years, as well as, his son's baseball team. He also took time to play softball himself. Ted was always an avid O.U. sports fan loving O.U. football, basketball, gymnastics and wrestling.
He loved spending time with his wife, children and grand-children on the gulf shores for vacation and Christmas.
He is survived by his wife Janice of the home; daughter, Lisa and husband Steve Blyze, of Gardner Kansas; son, Theadore Morris Cole II and wife Stephanie of Houston Texas; daughter, Tracey and husband Tony Purler of Holt, Missouri; grandchildren, Theadore Morris Cole III, Katelyn and Connor Cole of Houston, Texas, and Lilia and Ronin Purler of Holt, Missouri; three brothers, Tinch Cole Sr. of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Roger Cole of Wagoner, Oklahoma, and Gary Cole of Newalla, Oklahoma; five sisters; Alice Stewart of Atlanta, Georgia, Margaret Strobietto of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Geneva Shingledecker of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Mattie Delaney of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Pattie Ingram of Richard Hills, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Don and Eugene Cole, and sister Nadine McClafflin.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 9th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Blackwell with the Rev. Eric Dittman of the First Presbyterian Church in Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Marty Bilyeu, Kenneth Fulton, Cole Brian Rogers, Rocky Walcher, Loren Hartness and Sean Copple .
A memorial has been established in his honor with the Class of 1959 Blackwell School Foundation in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
