Teresa Ann McAbee, of Blackwell, Oklahoma passed away in her home on Monday, June 1, 2026, after her long fight with cancer. She was 60 years of age.

Teresa Ann McAbee was born November 22, 1965 in Paradise, California, to Carol Higgins and Tom People. Her mother, also from Paradise, was born November 2, 1939, and passed away from a fight with cancer on January 5, 2015. Teresa’s father was from Florida. Teresa’s two brothers, Robert and William Smith, were both born in Chico, California.

She would attend school in Ponderosa, California from 1973 to 1974. Her parents owned a farm, and every morning Teresa, Robert, and William had to feed the animals. They would have to finish their chores before hanging out with their friends. At age 15, she would move to Blackwell.

Teresa would marry Wilbur Emmet Winterhalter, Jr., and would take his name. Wilbur was born May 5, 1964 in El Paso, Texas. He had previously lived in Germany, Lawton, and Stillwater – before he moved to Blackwell. They would marry and have four kids together: Daniel Lee Winterhalter, Dawnell Lynn winterhalter, Savannah Leann Winterhalter, and Raquesha Ann Winterhalter.

Tragedy would strike the family soon after. Dawnell would pass away at the age of four months, while in her crib, having lived from May 31, 1983 to September 31, 1983. Wilbur and Savannah would pass away on October 12, 1988 in a house fire.

Teresa would marry to Keven Brian Herren on March 11, 2002, and they would have a son, Bram Allen Winterhalter.

She enjoyed being outside in her garden. She also enjoyed collecting anything related to AMC’s series, The Walking Dead.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father; husband Wilbur; and her daughters Savannah and Dawnell.

She is survived by brothers Robert and William Smith of California; her children: Daniel Lee Winterhalter of Ponca City; Bram Allen Winterhalter of Ponca City; Raquesha Winterhalter and boyfriend Shawn of Blackwell, Oklahoma; and her grandkids: Savannah Hegedus, Mariah Richardson, Westen Winterhalter, and Raelynn Winterhalter.
