Obituary

Tammie Lynn Kirby of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at her home in Blackwell at the age of 50 years.

Tammie Lynn Kirby was born on March 26, 1963, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, to William Boyd and Glenda Kay (Buxton) Chambers. She grew up in Blackwell and attended Blackwell Christian Academy. Following her education she continued assisting her father in the family carpet laying business. She married David Lee Kirby on June 22, 1984, in Blackwell and they settled there. She later received her nurse's aide certification at Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home before working for sixteen years as a nurse's aide at the Blackwell Regional Hospital. She also worked in the housekeeping department for the Best Western Blackwell Inn and for Kentucky Fried Chicken in Blackwell. In 2011 she began working for the Tonkawa Indian Casino where she was working at the time of her death. She was a member of The Tabernacle Church in Blackwell. She enjoyed her pets, computer and shopping with her girls. She also loved play fighting with her husband and caring for her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, David Kirby of Blackwell; her mother, Glenda Mills of Burbank, Oklahoma; two daughters, Ashley Whitehouse and Arin Payne both of Ponca City; a sister, Sherrie Beck of Blackwell; two brothers, DeWayne Chambers of Blackwell and Bill Chambers of Corpus Christi, Texas; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 13th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cliff Johnson of The Tabernacle officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Bill Chambers, DeWayne Chambers, Zach Payne, John Whitehouse, Rick Haught and Andy Sutton.
