Sue Ann Loftis passed away to the Lord on Monday, October 20th at the age of 77 after a lengthy illness.
Sue Ann was born in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Harper and Sue Poling, growing up and graduating from Blackwell High School with the Class of 1948. She attended Stephens College in Missouri and later transferred to the University of Oklahoma where she earned a degree in Music Education with honors. In 1951, she married Don Loftis, settling in Norman to finish their education. After time in Lawton and Duncan, in 1958, the family settled in her home town of Blackwell to raise their children Mike and Lynn.
Sue Ann was active in the Presbyterian Church serving on the Session and as a founder and board member of the successful Presbyterian Pre-School for over 20 years. She was a Pi Beta Phi at OU and a long time sister in P.E.O.
She is survived by husband of 57 years, Don, of the home, a son, Mike Loftis and wife Janet of Blackwell; a daughter, Lynn Vague and husband Mark of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Steve Loftis, Lauren Loftis and Bryan Loftis of Blackwell; nephews, Richard Kelly of Odessa, Texas, and Mark Kelly of Abilene, Texas; and a niece, Kim Page of Houston, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Mary Kelly of Odessa, Texas.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 23rd in the First Presbyterian Church in Blackwell, under the direction of Roberts & Son Funeral Home. Rev. Eric Dittman will officiate. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Serving as casketbearers will be R. C. Bechtel, Stan Claybaker, Dennis Hutton, Stan Bivin, Mike Quirey and Jim Rodgers. Honorary casketbearers will be Dr. Bob Morgan and Dr. Michael Keefer.
