Dr. Steve Allen LeValley was born on November 16, 1937, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Harley Stephen and Mary Edith (Gillespie) LeValley. He grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public Schools graduating in 1956. He furthered his education by attending the University of Oklahoma in Norman and then Oklahoma University Medical School where he graduated as a medical doctor n 1963. Following graduation he attended the University of Colorado where he received a Master's Degree in French in 1967. He then served as a medical officer during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1968 in the United States Navy. In 1968 he returned to Denver and began working for Kiser Medical Clinic. In 1971 he began his private medical practice in internal medicine in Denver, Colorado, and continued in practice until his retirement in 1999. Following his retirement he returned to Blackwell to make his home. While in Blackwell he was elected to the City Commission in 2002 in Ward 3. He was later re-elected until ill health forced his resignation. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Blackwell.
He is survived by two nieces, Lisa Rowland of San Jose, California, and Lanette Nansen of Washington; cousins, Kenneth LeValley of Braman, Oklahoma, Fred LeValley and wife Joniece of Blackwell, and Karen Hutchison and husband David of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; and numerous other cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Maryann Nansen.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 26, 2007, in the First Presbyterian Church in Blackwell, Oklahoma, with the Rev. Eric Dittman officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for cancer research or the Opportunity Center in Ponca City in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
