Stella Mae Colvin was born on January 12, 1922, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Alphie L. and Alta May (Shierrey) Houser. She grew up on a farm southwest of Blackwell and attended District 61 Rural School before attending Blackwell Public Schools. She married Walter Ray Colvin on April 24, 1940, in Medicine Lodge, Kansas. In 1951 she began working for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas, and worked there for a year. They later moved to Blackwell and she began working in the Blackwell Public Schools cafeteria in 1977 and continued working until her retirement in 2000. Her husband preceded her in death in 1975 and she continued to make Blackwell her home. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Blackwell. She enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Dean Colvin and wife Carolyn of Blackwell, and Darrell Colvin of Blackwell; granddaughter, Jennifer Colvin of Blackwell; grandsons, Jeffrey Colvin and wife Cindi of Blackwell and John Colvin of Tulsa, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, Tyler, Trent, and Jocelyn Colvin of Blackwell; a sister, Hazel Hartwig and husband Bill of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; and a niece, Sherry Starr of Arizona.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Henry and David Houser.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 10th, in the Blackwell Cemetery with the Rev. Andy Teston of the First Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Honorary casketbearers will be Jack Clinkingbeard, A. C. Pratt, Newman Hicks, Bill Hartwig, Jimmy Hartwig and Tom Prather.
