Obituary

Ruby Blanche Womack of Ponca City, Oklahoma, died Thursday evening, August 29, 2013, in the Via Christi Village in Ponca City at the age of 86 years.

Ruby Blanche Womack was born on January 19, 1927, in rural Deer Creek, Oklahoma, to Stephen Oliver and Pearl May (Kennedy) Walton. She grew up in Deer Creek graduating from Deer Creek High School in 1944. Following her education she worked at a café in Deer Creek before moving to Detroit, Michigan, where she married J. D. Womack on August 23, 1945, and they settled in Detroit until his discharge from the United States Navy. Upon his discharge, they returned to Deer Creek where she served her family as a homemaker. While her children were in school, she worked as a waitress for the Highway Café. She later worked for the Pishney Furniture Store and as the secretary for Clyde Coop. In the late 1990's they moved to Ponca City to make their home. Her husband preceded her in death on April 2, 2013, and she continued to make Ponca City her home. She was a member of the Deer Creek Christian Church. She enjoyed having coffee with friends, traveling and her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Lively and husband Leon of Ponca City and Vickie J. Coleman and Evan Cless of Ponca City; four grandchildren, Lori Budde and husband Harlan of Oklahoma City, Travis Coleman and wife Allie of Hastings, Florida, Lonnie Lively and wife Kari of Ponca City, and Lacy Schultz and husband Josh of Newcastle, Oklahoma; and six great grandchildren, Cooper and Carson Lively, Mackinzie and Brook Schultz, and Grayden and Garrett Coleman.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jerry Joe Womack; four sisters, Gertrude, Grace, Thelma and Zelma; and two brothers, Amos and Wells.

Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 2, 2013, in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home in Blackwell with James W. Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Nardin.

Casketbearers will be Maxie Williams, Roger Webster, Glen Wicke, Rick Hoemann, Randy Hoemann and Paul Keuhny.

A memorial has been established in her honor with the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for heart research in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
