Obituary

Roy J. Northcutt of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Friday morning, February 5, 2010, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Blackwell at the age of 85 years.

Roy J. Northcutt was born on June 17, 1924, in Numa, Oklahoma, to Roy V. and Icy Pearl (Kerr) Northcutt. He grew up attending Lamont Public Schools before moving to Deer Creek, Oklahoma, and attending Deer Creek High School. Following his education he entered the United States Army serving during World War II. Following his discharge he returned to Deer Creek and began working for the Blackwell Ice Plant. He later began working for Wilson Equipment Company in Deer Creek. On January 23, 1947, he married Ruby Clay in Caldwell, Kansas, and they settled in Deer Creek. They later moved to Blackwell and he began working for Acme Foundry before working in the maintenance department for the Blackwell Zinc Company. After the smelter closed, he worked until his retirement in 1987 at the C.F.M. Corporation. His wife preceded him in death in 1983 and he married Virginia Jeffries in May of 1984. He later married Aline Marie Blackorbay on August 22, 1997, in Kildare, Oklahoma, and they made Ponca City there home.

He is survived by a daughter, Judy Gose and husband Ralph of Blackwell, Oklahoma; a son, Dwaine Northcutt and wife Penny of Ponca City, Oklahoma; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lucerne Eberle; and a brother, Dewey Northcutt.

Following cremation, private family services will be held in the Bayard Cemetery in Deer Creek, Oklahoma.

A memorial has been established in his honor with the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for cancer research in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
