Obituary

Rosa Nell Rowe of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Tuesday, August 10, 2010, in the Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 77 years.

Rosa Nell Rowe was born on May 10, 1933, in Homestead, Oklahoma, to John Riley and Thelma Jane (Erb) Huston. She grew up on a farm in the rural Homestead area and attended Liberty School. In 1941 she moved with her family to Medford, Oklahoma, and in 1942 they moved to Blackwell where she graduated from Blackwell High School in 1952. Following her education she began working for the Kress Department Store in Blackwell. She married Clarence Ivan Rowe on February 12, 1953, in Blackwell and she began serving her family as a homemaker. Her husband preceded her in death on July 12, 1997, and she continued to make Blackwell her home. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting and made many doll clothes, afghans and doilies. She also enjoyed collecting Barbie dolls and bowling for which she received many awards. She especially loved her grandchildren and attending the various community dinners.

She is survived by four daughters, Lisa Reames Chambers and husband DeWayne of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Jane Dollarhide of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Carolyn Clinton and husband Tom of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Pam Pollard and husband Steve of McLoud, Oklahoma; four sisters, Bessie Tanner of Braman, Oklahoma, Patsey Dorl of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Dorothy Tanner of Peckham, Oklahoma, and Emma Nash; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Willie, Henry and Lloyd Huston; a sister, Elizabeth Huston; a grandson, Bryan Reames; two sons-in-law, Jerry Reames and Jim Feller; and a special aunt, Minnie Huston.

Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 14th in the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell with the Rev. Kristen L. Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Honorary casketbearers will be DeWayne Chambers, Bill Merchant, Tom Clinton and Steven Pollard. Serving as casketbearers will be Pfc. Jered Reames, Pvt. Brad Reames, Shaun Merchant, Craig Webb, Vernon Rowe and Bobby Day.

A memorial in her honor has been established with the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
