Ronnie Allen Day, Sr., 79, of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away early morning June 6, 2026.
Ronnie Allen Day, Sr. was born February 3, 1947, to Joseph E. Day and Gladys (Atyes) Day, in Blackwell, Oklahoma. He attended Blackwell Public Schools, and graduated from Blackwell High School (with the class of 1965). Following his education, he then joined the US Army in 1966, and served until May 31, 1986, retiring as a Master Sargent. He served during the Vietnam Conflict. Following his discharge, Ronnie moved back to Blackwell. He would go on to working for Shepherd’s Oil Company.
On June 24, 1966, he would marry Hewetta Wilson, and they would have three kids together: Ronnie Day, Jr, Jaleta Ortiz, and Joshua J. Day. He would then marry Sarah Jane Ellington on April 7, 1988, and she would precede him in death on July 12, 2000.
Ronnie enjoyed hanging out with his family (especially his brothers), playing guitar, camping, and fishing.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Earl, Johnny, Tommy, Dennis, Doyle, Kenneth; two sisters, Doris and Ima.
He is survived by one daughter, Jaleta Ortiz of Blackwell; two sons: Ronnie Day, Jr. of Blackwell, and Joshua J. Day of Stillwater; fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Arvel Day, Floyd Day, and Mike Day; one sister, Bonnie Kelly; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 7:00 PM, Wednesday June 10, and from 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Thursday June 11, at Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Friday, June 12, 2026 in the Roberts Memorial Chapel. Burial to follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
