Obituary

Rodney Lowell Miller of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died early Sunday morning, June 29, 2008, at his home in Blackwell at the age of 79 years.

Rodney Lowell Miller was born on October 20, 1928, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Earl Leonard and Hazel Beatrice (Conway) Miller. He grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public Schools graduating in 1946. Following his education he married Wanda Lee Richardson on November 3, 1946, in Blackwell and they settled in Blackwell where he worked for the Turvey Packing Company for a year. He then began working for Don Weaver Well Service before working for Jenkins Drilling Company for twenty-five years. He then began working for Anderson Pipe and Supply in Blackwell before working until his retirement in 2004 for Contractor Bit Company in Tonkawa, Oklahoma.
His wife preceded him in death on November 18, 2007, and he continued to make Blackwell his home. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Blackwell. He also held membership in the Elk's and Moose Lodge. He enjoyed dancing, grilling outdoors, visiting Glen's Auto and his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by two daughters, Sherry Scott and husband Butch of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Debbie Glass and husband Rudy of Blackwell, Oklahoma; a sister, Donna Howell of Huntington Beach, California; three grandchildren, Garrick Glass of Blackwell, Garth Glass and wife Lacie of Blackwell, and Gina Lenon and husband Jason of Blackwell; and four great grandchildren, Allison, Brett and Peyton Lenon of Blackwell, and Bella Glass also of Blackwell.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Earl Miller Jr., Sidney Miller and an infant brother at birth.

Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 2nd, in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with James W. Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Honorary casketbearers will be Raymond Johns, Wes Webb, Donnie Hall, Keith Jeffries, Bill Rigdon, Vern Willbanks and Paul Gamble. Serving as casketbearers will be Garrick Glass, Garth Glass, Jason Lenon, Butch Scott, Rudy Glass and Glen Johnson Jr.

A memorial has been established with the St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
