Roberta Lee Rush passed away on June 12, 2026, with her family by her bedside in Edmond, Oklahoma, at the age of 92 years, and nine and a half months. (But she was always 21!)
Roberta Lee Rush was born to Arthur and Althea (Groundwater) McGill on August 24, 1933, in Plymouth, Kansas.
She graduated from Toledo Township High School at Saffordville, Kansas, with the class of 1951. Following her high school education, she would attend business school.
While living with her grandmother, Elizabeth Nevergall, in Yale, Oklahoma, she met and married Willie Fay Rush on March 22, 1953. They would go on to make their home in Blackwell.
Roberta would go on to work for 10 years at the Blackwell Nursing Home. She would then work 20 years with the Blackwell General Hospital as part of their Respiratory Therapy crew.
Roberta was a member, Sunday School teacher, and organist for the Southside Church of the Nazarene. She would continue to attend until it was merged with the Blackwell First Church of the Nazarene, and she would go on attending there. She enjoyed singing and gardening, planting many colorful flowers and bushes.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Althea McGill; husband, Willie Rush; her son, Chuck Rush; and son Mark Brittain. Brothers Arthur J McGill and David L McGill; one great-grandson, Remington Cunningham; and one granddaughter Nadia Monteneri.
She is survived by her siblings: brother Francis “Smiley” McGill and wife Helen of Corsicanna, Texas; sister Joyce Gibout of Springfield, Missouri; sister Betty Schreiner of Girard, Kansas; brother Charles “Hank” McGill and wife Marilyn of Olathe, Kansas; brother Dale McGill and wife Theresa of Emporia, Kansas; sister Sandy Whinery of Emporia, Kansas; and sister-in-law Linda McGill of Hartford, Kansas. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-granchdhildren, which she would affectionately call them her babies. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and her extended family: Sally Delaney, Susan and Tom Marshall, Kim Brittain, and Barbara Fairchild.
Visitation will be available from Friday, June 19, 2026. Time has been set aside for family on Friday from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 10:00 AM in the First Church of the Nazarene in Blackwell, Oklahoma, with Rev. Josie Busby officiating. A graveside committal will be held at 2:30 PM in Maramec, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene, in Blackwell, in care of Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
