Obituary

Robert L. Yeater of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Friday morning, August 1, 2008, in the Willow Haven Nursing Home in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, at the age of 86 years.

Robert L. Yeater was born on May 11, 1922, in Wabash, Indiana, to Frank and Treva (McClure) Yeater. He grew up in Wabash graduating from Arcola High School in 1941. He entered the United States Army on October 8, 1942, serving as a medical technician to the 247th General Hospital and Fort Sam Houston Hospital during World War II. He was honorably discharged on February 13, 1946. Following his discharge he worked for various foundries across the United States. Along with his partner, Kenneth White, he moved to Blackwell in 1973 and built the O.I.C.C. foundry and served as general manager of the company until 1982. He married Peggy Holden on December 30, 1986, in Miami, Oklahoma, and they settled in Oolagah, Oklahoma, until 1996 when they returned to Blackwell to make their home.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Yeater of Blackwell; three daughters, Sandy Burney of Green Cove Springs, Florida, Lynn Lawson of Potomac Falls, Virginia, and Roxanne Musick of Decatur, Texas; two step-children, JoNelle Brown and Michael Holden both of Blackwell; three brothers, Bill, Don and Rocky Yeater all of Michigan City, Indiana; nine grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters and a brother.

At his request there will be no services.

A memorial has been established with the Hospice of North Central Oklahoma in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
