Obituary

Robert Eddly Suggs of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Thursday evening, August 30, 2012, at his home in Blackwell at the age of 61 years.

Robert Eddly Suggs was born on June 18, 1951, in Plain Dealing, Louisiana, to Robert Marion and Lilly Marie (Rowell) Suggs. As a young boy he moved with his family to DeQueen, Arkansas, before moving to Blackwell in 1954 where he attended Blackwell Public Schools. Following his education he began working for Southside Salvage. He married Teresa Beverly Stevens on June 26, 1971, in Blackwell. In 1972 he worked for Vernon Dow Sanitation Service before driving a truck for Graves Truck Lines. In 1991 he purchased C. and E. Auto in Blackwell and operated the business for five years. In 1996 he began working for Caskey Pest Control in Ponca City and worked there until his retirement in 2001. He enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking and exploring with a metal detector.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa Suggs of Blackwell; a son, John Suggs of Blackwell; a daughter, Ila Holland and husband Glen of Blackwell; two brothers, Vernie Suggs and Max Suggs and wife Edna, all of Blackwell; seven sisters, Linda Stevens and husband Melvin of Blackwell, Virginia Kerstien and husband Rodger of Garber, Oklahoma, Louise Harris and husband Ron of Garber, Oklahoma, Becky Kucera and husband Jas of Enid, Oklahoma, Patricia Randolph of Houston, Texas, Vivian Suggs of Blackwell, and Ann Partridge and husband Ronnie of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Breanna, Jordan, Joseph and Jacob Suggs of Healy, Alaska, and Nicolas, Jennifer, Sarah and Kylie Holland of Blackwell; and a great grandson, Landon Holland of Blackwell.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Cecil Suggs; and a sister, Victoria Suggs.

Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 10th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Blackwell with Chaplain Tom Howard of Hospice of North Central Oklahoma officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Nardin, Oklahoma.

Casketbearers will be Craig McBrain, Jeff Butzback, James Steel, Melvin Stevens, Brandon Kerstien and Carlos Calleja.

A memorial has been established in his honor with Hospice of North Central Oklahoma in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
