Robert Eugene Jernigan of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Sunday afternoon, March 7, 2010, at his home in Blackwell at the age of 75 years.
Robert Eugene "Bob" Jernigan was born on September 18, 1934, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Matthew William and Fanny (Kern) Jernigan. He grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public Schools graduating from Blackwell High School in 1953. He then furthered his education by attending Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma, and Midwestern University in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he earned a bachelors degree in accounting. While in college he served in the United States Air Force. He married Alice Elizabeth Cloud on June 7, 1957, in Higgins, Texas, and they settled in Burkburnett, Texas, before moving to Houston, Texas, where he worked as an accountant for several different companies. In 1994 they moved to Blackwell to make their home. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Blackwell. He enjoyed model airplanes, fishing, playing trumpet and riding motorcycles. He owned and enjoyed flying several different private aircraft.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Jernigan of Blackwell, Oklahoma; his son, Philip Jernigan of Blackwell, Oklahoma; a brother, Billy Dale Jernigan of Washington; three sisters, Mozelle Johns of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Juanita Schmidt of Lamar, Missouri, and Glenda Carlson of Oregon; and a granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Hazel; and three brothers, Danny, Kenneth and Harold.
At Bob's request there will be no services following cremation.
