Rita Marie Pickett of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Friday morning, May 27, 2016 in the Mercy Hospital, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 77 years.
Rita Marie Pickett was born on October 26, 1938, in Strong City, Kansas, to Floyd and Hilah (Waggoner) Bolte. She attended Blackwell Public Schools and graduated in Blackwell with the class of 1956. She married Charles A. Pickett on August 31, 1956 in Blackwell, Oklahoma, and he preceded her in death on November 16, 2006. They raised their children in Tomball, Texas, before retiring in Blackwell. She enjoyed many outdoor activities, including camping, fishing and tending her flower beds and vegetable garden. She was and artist, loved doing crafts, painting and decorating her home. Charles would build furniture, she would paint it and they would travel to craft shows to sell them. She liked watching sports and cheering on her favorite teams.
She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Pickett of Austin, Texas, and Mitzi Newlin and husband Terry of Ponca City, Oklahoma; two sons, Douglas Pickett of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Jeff Pickett and wife Linda of Atlanta, Georgia; three grandchildren, Garret Christian of Wichita, Kansas, Jeffrey Pickett and Landon Pickett of Atlanta, Georgia; two great grandchildren, Emmett Pickett and Evelyn Pickett of Atlanta, Georgia; and one sister, Mavis Corderman of San Antonio, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services are scheduled for Monday May 30th at 11:00 am. at the First Christian Church, Blackwell, Oklahoma, with Rev. Jeff Kock, First Christian Church, Blackwell, Oklahoma, officiating.
