Obituary

Richard Walter Staten, formerly of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away at his home in Tonkawa at the age of 84 years.

Richard Walter Staten was born on September 7, 1939, in Blackwell to Walter Doyle and Louise Goldie (Foust) Staten. He grew up in Blackwell and attended Blackwell Public Schools. For twenty-eight years he worked at the Acme Foundry which later became Eagle Iron Works.  Never married, he enjoyed his nieces, nephews and cousins. He loved hunting, fishing and motorcycles.

He is survived by his nieces, Belinda Young of Missouri, Jackie Staten of Ponca City and Debra Crawford of Michigan; two nephews, George Staten of Kansas, and Buddy Staten of Arkansas City; a cousin, Darlene McKee of Ponca City; and his faithful caregiver, Cindy Grace of Tonkawa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a niece, Tammy Hilton; and a nephew, Bobby Max Staten.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 5th from 9:00 a.m. – Noon at Roberts and Son Funeral Home. A Graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at the Blackwell Cemetery.
