Obituary

Raymond Moore of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Thursday evening, March 11, 2010, in the Blackwell Regional Hospital in Blackwell at the age of 84 years.

Raymond Moore was born on April 19, 1925, in Crystal Spring, Arkansas, to Roland Alexander and Annie Francis (Brumley) Moore. He grew up in Arkansas attending public schools there. In the early 1940's he moved to Kansas and began working for the Katy Railroad. He married Alpha Fern Reilly in 1948 in Columbus, Kansas, and they settled in Parsons, Kansas. They later moved to Augusta, Kansas, and he began working as a machinist for Boeing Aircraft. While there he worked extensively on Air Force One. They later moved to Andover then Wichita, Kansas, and he continued working for Boeing until his retirement after thirty-two years of service. His wife preceded him in death on March 6, 1999. He moved to Blackwell in 2002 to make his home. He was a member of the Machinist's Union in Wichita. He enjoyed woodworking and created many clocks for Boeing retirees. He also enjoyed gardening and his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter, Jewel Shope and husband Darl of Blackwell, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Eric Beeler of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Brad Neal of Maize, Kansas, Junell Chamberlain of Haysville, Kansas, and Daniel Kimmel, Trina Freed and Tylarra Knoll all of Pennsylvania; eleven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronald R. Moore; and seventeen brothers and sisters, Mary, Lillie, Zora, Andrew, Delia, Celia, Bessie, Lessie, Arlie, Allie, Arthur, Elzia, Oscar, Grady, Michael, Ray and a baby sister.

Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m, Tuesday, March 16th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Blackwell with the Rev. Curtis Newby of Wichita, Kansas, officiating. Graveside services are set for 3:00 p.m. in the Columbus Cemetery in Columbus, Kansas.

Casketbearers will be Eric Beeler, Darl Shope, Brad Neal, James Sparlin, Lonnie Hardin, Daniel Kimmel and Jack Reid.

A memorial has been established in his honor with the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for cancer research in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
