Phyllis Nadine Brown of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died early Wednesday morning, June 4, 2008, in the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 72 years.
Phyllis Nadine Brown was born on September 7, 1935, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Joshua Rivers and Lusta Gerleta (Romine) Wynn. She grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public Schools. Following her education she married Jack Day in 1956 and they settled in Arkansas City, Kansas, where she served her family as a homemaker. Her husband preceded her in death in August of 1959. Following his death she returned to Blackwell to make her home. On August 18, 1960, she married Winifred Brown in Blackwell and she continued serving her family. He preceded her in death on November 5, 2006, and she continued to make Blackwell her home. She was a member of The Tabernacle in Blackwell and enjoyed meeting the needs of other people.
She is survived by two sons, Steve Day and wife Kari of Katy, Texas, and Rick Brown of Blackwell; two sisters, Carol Anglin and husband Jack of Whitney, Texas, and Kay Robinson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two brothers, Paul Wynn and wife Barbara of Blackwell and Jim Wynn and wife Laura of Ponca City, Oklahoma; twelve grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, James Day and Raymond Brown; and a sister, JoAnn Reed.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 6th, in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cliff Johnson of The Tabernacle officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation – Kidney Research in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
