Phillip Lee Bonewell Sr., of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Monday, November 24, 2008, at his residence in Blackwell at the age of 55 years.
Phillip Lee Bonewell was born in Blackwell, Oklahoma, on February 27, 1953. He was the son of Marvin and JoAnne (Jones) Bonewell. He grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public Schools graduating from Blackwell High School in 1971. He then married Connie Coleman on December 1, 1971 in Deer Creek, Oklahoma and they settled on a farm north of Blackwell. He began working for the Blackwell Zinc Company until 1973 when he joined the United States Navy moving to the Great Lakes for boot camp, after training they moved to Idaho where he attended nuclear power school. Following his education he was stationed at Terminal Island in Long Beach, California, where he was assigned to the USS Guadalupe and later in Charleston, South Carolina where he was assigned to the USS L. Mendel Rivers Submarine where he served four years as a nuclear power plant operator machinist mate 1st class. Following his discharge He and his family moved to Braman for a short time then they moved back to Blackwell where he began working for Conoco for thirteen years, he then worked for GEC in Wellington, Kansas, Smith Tool in Ponca City, Oklahoma, and at Mid America Door Company in Ponca City before being disabled. He was a member of the Tabernacle Church in Blackwell, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Bonewell; one sister, Anita; and grandparents, Kenneth and Elsie Bonewell.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Bonewell of Blackwell, Oklahoma; his mother, JoAnne Bonewell of Blackwell; one daughter, Sunnie Haines and husband Mike of Garber, Oklahoma; four sons, Phillip Bonewell Jr., and wife Tammy of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Tim Bonewell and wife Luci of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Matthew Bonewell and wife DavaLynn of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and John Bonewell of Ponca City, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren; two sisters, Marva Jones of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Becky Ryan of Blackwell, Oklahoma; and one brother, Dennis Bonewell of Blackwell, Oklahoma.
Services are scheduled for Saturday, December 6, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Robert Johnson and Rev. Cliff Johnson of The Tabernacle in Blackwell, Oklahoma, officiating.
