Della Pearl Rayfield of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died early Tuesday morning, November 13, 2012, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Blackwell at the age of 100 years.
Della Pearl Rayfield was born on April 20, 1912, in Randolph County, Missouri, to Charles Louis and Mary Ann (Blackwell) Nipps. As a young girl she moved with her family to Oklahoma where she grew up Sand Springs and graduated from high school in 1931. She furthered her education by attending Oklahoma A. & M. in Stillwater. While in college she met Earl Rayfield and they married on August 4, 1934, in Marian, Kansas. In 1947 they moved to Blackwell where she continued to serve her family as a homemaker. Her husband preceded her in death on January 15, 1998, and she continued to make Blackwell her home. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Shearn Garth Rayfield; a brother, Ted Nipps; and three sisters, Nancy Gosnell, Marjorie Brown and Patricia Nipps.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 15th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Waterloo of Central Baptist Church in Ponca City officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in her name with the First Baptist Church Building Fund in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
