Pearl Ruth Carriger of Blackwell , Oklahoma , died Friday, July 24, 2009, at the OSU Medical Center in Tulsa , Oklahoma , at the age of 87 years.
Pearl Ruth Carriger was born on October 22, 1921, in Lincoln Nebraska . She was the daughter of Earl W. and Ruth J. (Fuller) Ogg. She grew up in Lincoln , Nebraska , and
attended Lincoln Public Schools. At the age of
thirteen she moved with her family to
Blackwell , Oklahoma , where she attended
Blackwell High School . On July 17, 1939, she
married Floyd Walter Carriger in Wellington ,
Kansas , and they made their home in
Blackwell. She served her family as a
homemaker and as a seamstress for the
Blackwell Zinc Company. She was part of the
Bridge Club playing in the Bridge circle. She
worked at the fairgrounds in the domestic
science building yearly at the Kay County Free
Fair and volunteered for the American Red
Cross. Following retirement they traveled and
spent their winter months at Port Aransas,
Texas . On February 18, 2006, Floyd Walter
Carriger preceded her in death and she
continued to make Blackwell her home. She
was a member of the First Baptist Church in Blackwell.
She is survived by, her daughter, Earline
Kennon of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her son, Dennis
Carriger and wife Bobbi of Wichita, Kansas;a daughter-in-law, Margaret Williamson of Stillwater, Oklahoma;
four grandchildren, Troy Williamson and wife
Lori of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Desa Kinnamon
and husband Dave of Stillwater, Oklahoma,
Tracie Meyer and husband Jim of Tulsa,
Oklahoma, and Cynthia Vogel and husband
Kris of Tulsa, Oklahoma; ten great
grandchildren, Shawn, Ryan, Shayla, Alysia,
Malori, Elena, Joseph, James, Cole and
Conner; and two sisters, Ilene Betty Rhea of
Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Lois Winters of
Scott City, Kansas.
She was also preceded in death by her
parents; one son, Fred Williamson; one son-
in-law, Edward E. Kennon, and two bothers,
Dwayne Ogg and Roland Ogg.
Private family graveside services are scheduled for 4:30 p.m., Monday, July 27th, in the Blackwell Cemetery with James W. Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the
Blackwell Cemetery.
