Paul Gene Wynn of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Wednesday evening, June 18, 2008, in the Ponca City Regional Medical Center in Ponca City, Oklahoma, at the age of 71 years.
Paul Gene Wynn was born on March 30, 1937, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Joshua Rivers and Lusta Gerleta (Romine) Wynn. He grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public Schools. Following his education he began working for the Blackwell Iron Company. He married Barbara Jean Lumly on May 23, 1958, in Newkirk, Oklahoma, and they settled in Blackwell. He later worked for the Blackwell Zinc Company before working in the tree trimming business. He then returned to Blackwell Iron before becoming part-owner of the company which they re-named W.W. Blackwell Iron. He enjoyed racing, visits to the casino and his coffee shop friends. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, ducks, coin collecting and assisting people through hard times.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Wynn of Blackwell; a daughter, Paula Wynn and husband Ted of Blackwell; two sons, Jack Dwayne Wynn and wife Melinda and Michael Ray Wynn and wife Tammy both of Blackwell; two sisters, Carol Anglin and husband Jack of Whitney, Texas, and Kay Robinson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a brother, Jim Wynn and wife Laura of Ponca City, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Melissa Hutchason and husband Luke of Newkirk, Oklahoma, Tyson Johnson of Blackwell, Jared Wynn of Blackwell and Jason T. Johnson of Blackwell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Phyllis Brown and JoAnn Reed.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 21st, in the Blackwell Cemetery with burial in Blackwell Cemetery.
Honorary casketbearers will be Dale White, Tom Wofford, Ron Hightower, T. G. Wolfe, Paul Epperly, Charley Danner, Clinton White, and Jim Tickle.
A memorial has been established with the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation – Lung Research in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
