Opal Faye Janzen of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Friday, November 13, 2009, in the Blackwell Regional Hospital in Blackwell at the age of 74 years.
Opal Faye Janzen was born on February 17, 1935, in Caldwell, Kansas, to William and Lena (Janzen-Giles) Janzen. As a young girl she moved with her family to Haysville, Kansas, and attended Starkey School in Wichita, Kansas. In 1978 she moved to Blackwell to make her home. She lived in Billings, Oklahoma, for a short time before returning to Blackwell. She worked as a babysitter and cook. She also worked at a nursing home in Haysville. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell. She enjoyed ceramics and various handcrafts.
She is survived by her step-sister, Jeanette Bina and husband Robert of Lincolnville, Kansas; and niece, Rebecca Bina of Leon, Kansas; and nephews, Byron Bina and wife Jodi of Herrington, Kansas, and Dustin Bina of Lincolnville, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Marvin Giles; a step-sister, Ruby Gaberdine; and step-brothers, Ted Janzen, Elvin Janzen, Vernon Janzen, Coy Giles and Robert Giles.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 16th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Blackwell with the Rev. Kristen L. Brown of the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Waco Cemetery in Waco, Kansas.
