Obituary

Olive Marie Sprueill of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Wednesday evening, August 10, 2011, in the South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center in Arkansas City, Kansas, at the age of 68 years.

Olive Marie Sprueill was born on October 24, 1942, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Wilford L. and Mamie Margaret (Turner) Scott. She grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public Schools. She married Alden Wayne Sprueill on December 17, 1960, in Belle Plaine, Kansas, and they made Blackwell their home. Beginning in 1986 they owned and operated the Ritz Cleaners in Blackwell until their retirement in January of 2009. Olive was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She enjoyed gardening and various types of interior design. Her husband preceded her in death on October 13, 2010, and she continued to make Blackwell her home.

She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Johns and husband Clay of Blackwell; a brother, Gary Scott of Medicine Lodge, Kansas; three sisters, Mary Flewelling of Blackwell, Sarah Hoogendoorn and husband John of Blackwell, and Ruby Ricketts and husband Terry of Blackwell; three grandchildren, Rachel Johns of Blackwell, Adam Johns and wife Michelle of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Matthew Johns of Provo, Utah; and a great granddaughter, Adilynne Johns of Stillwater, Oklahoma.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jesse Scott; and a grandson, Michael Johns.

A private family gathering will be scheduled at a later date.

A memorial has been established in her honor with the Heartland Hospice of Wichita, Kansas, in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
