Obituary
Olive Opal Ball formerly of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Wednesday afternoon, May 25, 2011, in the Maple Lawn Manor in Hydro, Oklahoma, at the age of 90 years.
Olive Opal Ball was born on January 22, 1921, in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, to Joe and Resa (Sumner) Siler. She grew up in Tonkawa where she was involved with many school activities and graduated from Tonkawa High School in 1938. She furthered her education by attending Northern Oklahoma Junior College for a year. She married Kenneth Ball on August 5, 1940, in Winfield, Kansas, and while he served during World War II she worked for Conoco in Ponca City. Following the war, she worked for Ball and Ball Clinic in Blackwell as an office nurse, lab technician, x-ray technician and home health nurse. She accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and through her nursing career touched many lives with her Christian testimony. Her husband preceded her in death in 2006 after sixty-six years of marriage. In June of 2008 she moved to the Maple Lawn Manor in Hydro to make her home. She was a member of the First Christian Church and enjoyed her closely woven German family bond by assisting with various family needs throughout her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Mardell Krone and husband Don of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Deborah Smith and husband Al of Edmond, Oklahoma, Catherine Clark and husband Tony of Maryville, Tennessee, and Richard Krone and his wife Tacia of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and eight great grandchildren, Emmery Smith, Rhiannon, Danielle, Virginia and Addison Clark and Madeline, Gavan and Cody Krone.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ellen Romerman and Della Overstreet; and six brothers, Vernon, Connie, Orval, Robert, Addison and Kenneth Siler.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 28th in the Blackwell Cemetery with a memorial service scheduled immediately following the burial in the First Christian Church with the Rev. Jeff Koch of the First Christian Church officiating.
Casketbearers will be Don Krone, Richard Krone, Scott Siler, Alfred Smith, Tony Clark and Bill Brunton. Serving as honorary casketbearer will be Leland Blackwell.
A memorial has been established in her honor with the Maple Lawn Manor in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
