Obituary

Nina Etta Kreger of Tonkawa, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday afternoon, December 7, 2010, at the age of 97 years.

Nina Etta Kreger was born, one of twelve children, on June 10, 1913, on the family farm southwest of Tonkawa to William and Etta Mae (Dunn) O'Mealey. She graduated from Enid High School at the age of sixteen and continued her education at Phillips University in Enid where she received her teaching certificate. Following the completion of her education she delayed getting married and taught two years at Cottage Hill School in the Riverview area to assist her mother and siblings. She married Dwight "Judd" Kreger on May 5, 1935, in the United Brethren Church in Enid and they settled on a farm near Tonkawa where she served her family as a homemaker. He preceded her in death on April 23, 1965, and she continued to make Tonkawa her home. She was an active member of the First Christian Church in Tonkawa where she was a faithful to teach Sunday School for many years. She attended Central Christian Camp with the youth for many years and blessed all who knew her with her quiet strength and gentle spirit.

She is survived by her son, James "Jim" Kreger and wife Bea of Tonkawa, Oklahoma; two daughters, Bernice Raney of Anaheim, California, and Ruth Schuermann and husband Gary of Blackwell, Oklahoma; a daughter-in-law, Anne Kreger of Tonkawa, Oklahoma; a sister, Nadine Davidson of San Marcos, Texas; a sister-in-law, Gladys Kreger of Tonkawa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Ruth Ellen Klinsky, Rhonda Schlafer, Mark Raney, Kristi Charles, Kerri Henley, Greg Schuermann, Jeff Kreger, Paula Minx and Darren, Dustin Kreger, Lorrie Webster and Julie Higgins; and twenty four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, John Kreger; a son-in-law, Darrell Raney; four sisters; and six brothers.

Services are scheduled for 12:00 p.m., Saturday, December 11th in the Christian Life Church in Tonkawa with the Rev. Gary Weeks of Guthrie, Oklahoma, and Rev. Derrick Marshall of Christian Life Church, officiating. A luncheon for family and friends will be held following the service at the church. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Tonkawa.

A memorial has been established in her honor with the Relay for Life Cancer Drive and the Blackwell Hospital Foundation in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
