Naomi M. Lucas, of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Saturday, August 13, 2011, in the Ponca City Medical Center, Ponca City, Oklahoma, at the age of 80 years.
Naomi M. Lucas was born on July 20, 1931, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Lawrence E. and Laura J. (Smith) Wooderson, She received her education in Grant and Kay County rural schools and Blackwell Junior and Senior High School graduating from Blackwell High School in 1949. She furthered her education by attending and graduating from Wichita Business College. She married John R. Lucas and they were the parents of two children, Johnna Reyanne and Gary Allen. She had a thirty-three year career working as a legal secretary and Certified Legal Assistant until she retired in 1991. In 1977, she was one of the first sixty-four, in the state of Oklahoma, to be appointed as a Certified Legal Assistant by the Oklahoma Bar Association. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell, Oklahoma.
She is survived by her son, Gary Lucas and wife Natasha Raj of Claremont, California; grandson, Lance Osgood and wife Skylar of Blackwell; great grandsons, Corey Osgood, Guyston Osgood and Jason Osgood; brothers, Dale Wooderson and wife Eva, and Harold Wooderson and wife Mary Ellen, both of Blackwell; sister-in-law, Phyllis Wooderson of Blackwell; and eight beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Johnna Reyanne Osgood; a brother, Verle Wooderson; two infant brothers; and a nephew, Verle Wayne Wooderson.
Memorial services are scheduled for 10:00, Thursday, August 18, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell with Rev. Robert Montgomery officiating. Interment will follow at the Blackwell Cemetery.
