Naomi Darlene Craig Brabander of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Thursday evening, November 12, 2009, at her daughter's home in Moore, Oklahoma, at the age of 78 years.
Naomi Darlene Craig Brabander was born on September 10, 1931, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Russell John and Leta Bonita (Ringer) Booth. She grew up in Deer Creek, Oklahoma, attending Hurley Schools and then Deer Creek Public Schools graduating from Deer Creek High School. She married Carl Neumann in 1949 and they settled In Chickasha, Oklahoma, where she began working for Dr. McDougal at the veterinarian clinic. On June 17, 1966, she married Robert Newton Craig in Chickasha and she began working for Dr. Mack as a nursing receptionist. In 1974 they returned to Deer Creek to be near her parents and she began working for Dr. Astle at the Blackwell Animal Clinic. Her husband preceded her in death on February 18, 1985, and she continued to make Deer Creek her home. In 1987 she married Edwin George Brabander and they continued to live in Deer Creek until 2006 when they moved to Blackwell to make their home. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed playing card games, reading and traveling.
She is survived by her husband, Ed Brabander of Blackwell, Oklahoma; six daughters, Jana Parker and husband Stephen of Moore, Oklahoma, Linda Carol Craig of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Donnis Fay Allen of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Debbie Kay Jordan of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Linda Forsyth and husband Stan of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Rhonda Sproull and husband Michael of Winchester, Virginia: two sons, Robert E. Craig and wife Lucille of Midwest City, Oklahoma, and Donnie Ray Craig of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; a brother, Jim Booth and wife Shirley of Deer Creek, Oklahoma; a daughter-in-law, Janet Brabander of Deer Creek, Oklahoma; nieces, Bonnie Thomas and husband Art of Caldwell, Kansas, Nancy Davis and husband Rob of Mims, Florida, and Carol Coufal and husband Dennis of Deer Creek, Oklahoma; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Carlene Neumann; and a son, Kurt Brabander.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 16th in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blackwell with the Rev. Tom Ramsey of First Lutheran Church in Ponca City, Oklahoma, officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Nardin, Oklahoma.
Casketbearers will be Art Thomas, Dennis Coufal, Chuck Tolle, Wade Forsyth, Jesse Forsyth and Cody Forsyth.
