Myrtle Marie Staten was born on April 28, 1941, in Harrison, Arkansas, to George and Opal (Roberts) Creekmore. She grew up in the Rogers and Pea Ridge, Arkansas, area. As a young girl she moved with her family to Blackwell and attended Blackwell Public Schools. She married Bob Staten on May 15, 1956, in Perry, Oklahoma, and they settled in Blackwell before moving to Wichita, Kansas. While in Wichita she worked for Beech Aircraft and Wichita Public Schools where she served as a teacher's aide and custodian. In 1983 they returned to Blackwell where she served her family as a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and flowers, crocheting and handcrafts. She attended Immanuel Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Bob Staten of Blackwell; three daughters, Tammy Hilton of Blackwell, Belinda Young of Haysville, Kansas, and Jackie Staten of Blackwell; two sons, Bobby Staten Jr. of Burlington, Kansas, and George Staten of Chetopa, Kansas; a sister Karen of Tulsa; five brothers, Raymond Creekmore of Toronto, Kansas, Jackie Creekmore of Wichita, Kansas, Dwayne Creekmore of Tulsa, Oklahoma, George Creekmore of Toronto, Kansas, and Ray Edward Creekmore of Toronto, Kansas; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Roger Staten; a grandson, Brian Hilton; four sisters; and six brothers.

Following cremation, family services are scheduled for a later date.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Opportunity Center in Ponca City in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the memorial.
