Myrtle Mae Beebe of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Tuesday morning, September 29, 2009, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Blackwell at the age of 101 years.
Myrtle Mae Beebe was born on January 15, 1908, in Seely, Kansas, to George E. and Rosa V. (Getz) Ireton. As a young girl she moved with her family to Idaho before returning to settle on a farm near Winfield, Kansas. She married Otto Wade in Emporia, Kansas, and they settled in Winfield. To this union a daughter, Donna Jean was born. Following an accident that claimed the life of her husband, she continued to make Winfield her home. She later married George "Guy" Beebe and they made Arkansas City, Kansas, their home and she began working as a sales clerk in retail sales. They later moved to the family farm near Winfield and remained there until 1991 when her husband preceded her in death. Following his death she moved into town and at the age of 93 moved to Milan, Kansas, to live with her great granddaughter, Rhonda. In 1996 she moved to South Haven, Kansas, to live with her great granddaughter, Jennifer, and in 2006 moved to Blackwell to make her home. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, quilting and canning various foods. She also enjoyed a love for dogs and always had one as a companion.
She is survived by a granddaughter, Marsha Kahn of Kansas City, Missouri; great grandchildren, Rhonda Woods of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Jennifer Cully of South Haven, Kansas, James Bogner of Arkansas City, Kansas, Travis White of Dallas, Texas, Shane Billbe of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Cambridge Jenkins of Kansas City, Missouri, and Cord Jenkins of Hutchinson, Kansas; and great great grandchildren, Brittany Woods of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Stephany Aguinaga of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Lane Cully of South Haven, Kansas, Lucas Cully of South Haven, Kansas, Ethan Cully of South Haven, Kansas, Monica Bogner of Arkansas City, Kansas, and Curtis Bogner of Arkansas City, Kansas.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter, Donna J. Wade; and one granddaughter, Monica Bogner.
Memorial services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 2nd in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Foos of Image Hospice, officiating.
