Melvin L. Cain of Winfield, Kansas, died Saturday afternoon, March 23, 2013, in his residence at the age of 79 years.
Melvin Lee Cain was born on August 17, 1933, in Braman, Oklahoma to Nathan Forest Cain and Olive Margaret (Cross) Cain. Melvin was born with multiple physical handicaps and lived at home until his mother passed away. He lived in a care home in Billings, Oklahoma, for 28 years before moving to Winfield, Kansas, in 2001. Melvin loved life through family, animals, and cowboy movies. He repeatedly told others, "I have Jesus in my heart."
He is survived by two sisters, Lenora Poland of Wichita, Kansas, and Dorothy Keesey of Burden, Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial services has been scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 29, 2013, at the First Christian Church, Winfield, Kansas, with Bro. Mike Marker of Cambridge, Kansas, officiating.
Honorary Casketbearers will be the nieces and nephews of Melvin Cain.
A memorial has been established in his honor with Mosaic, 2120 East 9th Avenue, Winfield, Kansas 67156.
