Mary Jane Wood was born on January 6, 1908, on a farm near Kingfisher, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Antone Cerny and Mary Forman. She grew up near Kingfisher attending Kingfisher Public Schools and graduating form Capital Hill High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She then went on to further her education at the University of Central Oklahoma for one semester. On January 21, 1929, she married Cecil O. Wood Sr. in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and they settled on a farm near Kingfisher, Oklahoma for a few months. In 1929 they moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma, and remained in Blackwell, Oklahoma, until 1993 when they moved to Pawhuska, Oklahoma. On January 12, 1998, her husband Cecil preceded her in death and she continued to make Pawhuska her home. She loved being a homemaker, spending time with her family, playing cards and listening to polka music. She attended the First Baptist Church in Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Pawhuska, Oklahoma.
She is survived by one son, Cecil O. Wood Jr., and wife Connie Lou of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Rennelle Arnold R.N. of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Dr. Nathan T. Wood M.D. and wife Krista of Temple, Texas; and five great grandchildren, Luke Wood of Temple, Texas, Beth Wood of Temple, Texas, Caleb Arnold of Edmond, Oklahoma, Bonnie Arnold of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Quinn Arnold of Edmond, Oklahoma.
She was also preceded by her parents; seven brothers; and two sisters.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 4, 2008, in the Blackwell Cemetery, with Rich Kowalczyk and Joe Randol officiating.
A memorial has been established at Help Works Incorporated c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
The family will meet at the Funeral Home Friday, January 4, 2008, from 12:00 p.m. till 1:00 p.m. to greet friends.
