Mary Moon passed away at approximately 3:45 am on Friday, Oct 23, 2009, in the Catholic Care Center in Wichita, Kansas, where she had resided for some years.

She was born Mary Catherine Townsell in Elgin, Kansas, on May 14, 1917, the fifth child and third daughter of John Vincent Townsell, Sr., and Eleanor (Nenno) Townsell. She attended Catholic parochial school in Cherryvale, Kansas, and graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1934.

She married Sylvester Franklin Moon on October 7, 1937. Mr. and Mrs. Moon moved to Blackwell in 1946 and were active members of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. They owned and operated the Blackwell Floral for thirty-six years. On January 22, 1997, Sylvester preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter, Eleanor (Moon) Dockers of Wichita, Kansas; five sons, Robert Moon of Columbia, Maryland, William Moon of Billings, Oklahoma, Michael Moon of Decatur, Georgia, Anthony Moon of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Charlie Moon of Andover, Kansas; ten grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and two great grandchildren.

Wake services will be held on Monday, October 26, 2009, at 6:00 p.m, in the St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Andover, Kansas.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, with Father Mike Baldwin officiating.

Burial will be at the Blackwell Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2009.

Serving as casketbearers will be Beth Carlton, Emily Myers, Melissa Miller, Cathy Allen, Megan Willoughby, Misty Dockers, Alaina Dockers and Simone Dockers.
