Marjorie A. Kelle of Braman, Oklahoma, died early Tuesday morning, March 31, 2009, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Blackwell at the age of 80 years.
Marjorie A. Kelle was born on June 8, 1928, on the family farm near Newkirk, Oklahoma, to Leo and Alfaratta (Von Stein) Hazaleus. She attended Waddell Country School through the eighth grade and graduated from Newkirk High School. While in school she was active in 4-H and named the Kay County Champion one year. She worked primarily as a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, sewing, taking care of her family and attending her children's many school activities. She worked a few years for the Cline Attorneys Office and the Soil Conservation Office in Newkirk, before working at the Braman Bank. She married Aubrey F. Kelle on May 17, 1958, in Newkirk and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the Kelle Family Reunion in June of 2008. She served as an active volunteer at the Blackwell Regional Hospital. She helped establish the Meals on Wheels program in Braman and enjoyed checking in on her elderly neighbors and baking them bread. She also served as a door-to-door canvasser for Dale DeWitt's state representative campaign. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blackwell, the Variety Fun Club in Braman, and the Winfield Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by her husband, Aubrey Kelle of Braman, Oklahoma; five children, Ann and Robert Henley of Payson, Arizona, Robert and Pamela Kelle of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, Marta and Lee J. Henderson of Houston, Texas, Steve and Kristi Kelle of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Reese Kelle of Las Vegas, Nevada; a sister, Elaine Fulton of Crete, Nebraska; nine grandchildren, Kelle and Jeff Hohl of Scottsdale, Arizona, Taylor, Aaron and Will Henderson of Houston, Texas, Kyle and Lillian Kelle of Las Vegas, Nevada, John and Stacy Kelle of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Reesa and Jeremy Johns of Yukon, Oklahoma, John and Rhonda Line of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and Brett and Tara Spencer of Tioga, Texas; and ten great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Ryan Hohl, Kobe and Kaden Kelle, Sagan Kelle, Bronson Johns, Luke and Lauren Line, and Kristen and Kordell Spencer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Melvin and Leo Hazaleus Jr.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 4th in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blackwell with the Rev. James Dehne of the St. John's Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Braman Cemetery.
Honorary casketbearers will be the employees of Kelle Oil Company. Serving as casketbearers will be Mark Arnold, Craig Day, Dale DeWitt, Ron Shoffner, Herb Lucas, Max Wooderson and Randy Crow.
