Lena Marie Smith was born on April 1, 1922, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to William McKinley and Hazel (James) Bonewell. She grew up in Blackwell attending rural school and Blackwell Public Schools graduating in 1940. She married Myron Harold Smith on April 24, 1940, in southern Kansas, and they settled in Blackwell. During World War II she worked as a riveter for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas. Following the war she returned to full-time homemaker caring for her family until her death. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church and the JOY Group in Blackwell. She also held membership in the Rebekah's Lodge. Myron and Marie enjoyed traveling to Colorado and spent twenty-three winters in South Texas where they caught many fish. She enjoyed playing bridge, birdwatching, various handcrafts, gardening and family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Myron Smith of the home; two sons, Richard Smith of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Ronnie Smith and wife B.J. of Blackwell, Oklahoma; two sisters, Alta Mae Owens of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Pauline Rowe of Blackwell, Oklahoma; a brother, Curtis Bonewell and wife Phyllis of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Dary Smith and wife Amber of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Tara Smith of Blackwell, Oklahoma; step-grandchildren, Donnie Collins and wife Jill of Wichita, Kansas, and Tracy Collins of Blackwell, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, Shelby, Hunter, Madden, Riley and Kierstin Smith of Blackwell, Oklahoma; and step-great grandchildren, Destiny, Desperado, Blake and Lila Mae Collins. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 30th, in the First Baptist Church in Blackwell with the Rev. Michael Moers officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Honorary Casketbearers will be Morgan Norris, Newman Hicks, Wayne Shepherd, Clarence Staples and Earl Webb. Casketbearers will be Mike Creech, Cecil Day, Bob Noblett, Don Vicker, Jim Wilkerson and Gregg Kirk.

A memorial has been established for a marquee at the First Baptist Church in Blackwell in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
