Marjorie M. Hinkle of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Sunday evening, February 8, 2009, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Blackwell at the age of 87 years.
Marjorie M. Hinkle was born on November 11, 1921, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to Roy L. and Goldie Olive (Stafford) Wells. At the age of two she moved with her family to Braman, Oklahoma, where she grew up graduating from Braman High School in 1940. While in high school she married Merle Finley on November 23, 1939, in Newkirk, Oklahoma, and they settled in Braman. She later married Glen Fitch and in 1948 they moved to Blackwell to make their home. She attended beauty school in Ponca City and after completion of the program worked as a beautician for forty years at her beauty shop in Blackwell. Her husband preceded her in death in 1977 and in 1986 she married Ray Hinkle and they made Blackwell their home. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell. She enjoyed dancing and her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sisters, Betty Lou Hanks of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Carlene Rector of Missoula, Montana; a daughter-in-law, Susan B. Finley; and three grandchildren, Michelle Finley of Buchanan, Michigan, Matt Finley of Grandview, Texas, and Ryan Finley of Laguna Nigel, California.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Glenda Fitch; and a son, Bob Finley.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11:30 a.m., Thursday, February 12th in the Braman Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Foos of the Nardin Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Braman Cemetery.
A memorial has been established at the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
