Obituary

Mable Fay Flick of Mustang, Oklahoma, died early Sunday morning, May 4, 2008, in the Canadian Valley Medical Center in Yukon, Oklahoma, at the age of 82 years.

Mable Fay Flick was born on August 9, 1925, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, to Charles Emmitt and Eva Ellen (Spore) Smith. She attended school in Arkansas City, Kansas. Following her education she married Harlan Vernon Flick on July 22, 1941, in Winfield, Kansas, and they settled in Blackwell where she served her family as a homemaker. She later worked at Safeway Grocery Store before moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma, in the early 1960's where she worked for Walgreen Pharmacy until her retirement in the early 1980's. They then moved to Mustang, Oklahoma, to make their home. Her husband preceded her in death on January 20, 2005, and she continued to make Mustang her home. She attended the First Baptist Church and enjoyed sewing, quilting and gospel and country music. She was also instrumental in founding a school for deaf children in Oklahoma City.

She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Sue Bringham and Linda Kay Dobbs; two sons, Larry David Flick and Dennis Vernon Flick; a brother, Harold Eugene Smith; twelve grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Bonnie, Opal, Betty and Viola; and three brothers, Alva, Melvin and George.

Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 7th, in the Blackwell Cemetery with the Rev. Matt Smith of Immanuel Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery under the direction of Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
